The cumulative evidence on collusion and corruption combined with his incompetence and obnoxious behavior has sent me over the edge. Trump has to go. There is no other solution.
Collusion
He clearly colluded with the Russians. The evidence keeps on growing, Pause and think about this for a moment. Our President, directly or through his staff, shared campaign information with Russian intelligence personnel, met with Russian operatives to get dirt on his opponent, and has had significant real estate dealings in the country that created a conflict of interest, which he lied about. He has worked with Putin to polarize and destabilize the US. He has put the safety and well-being of our nation at risk to win an election.
Some might argue that the evidence so far does not show he personally engaged in the collusion. I do not think this argument holds water. I cannot fathom that his campaign staff or children acted without his knowledge. Furthermore, if he was in the dark while those around him engaged with the Russians, then he is truly an incompetent leader.
Obstruction of justice
Now that we know there are multiple actions the President took that constitute conclusion with the Russians, it clarifies why he sees the Mueller investigation as an extreme threat. Given this context, it is clear that the President has tried to obstruct justice. He has engaged in a cover up and has berated, intimidated, and ultimately fired several personnel involved in the investigation (Comey, Sessions, McCabe) who would not do what he wanted. He has taken these actions to thwart the investigation.
Only one path out
The GOP representatives need to look in the mirror and assess their moral fiber. Is party more important than country? If you let this pass, what long-term damage will you have inflicted on our country? In the end, there is only one pathway out of this mess. Impeach the MF.
Update
Since writing this, the Buzzfeed report that the President directed his lawyer to lie to Congress regarding his campaign’s engagements with the Russians has been characterized as inaccurate by Mueller’s office. However, Roger Stone’s indictment states that an unamed leader in the Trump campaign directed Stone to work with Wikileaks on the release of Clinton’s hacked emails. Was that the President? Currently, the public evidence leads to the campaign but not quite to Donald Trump. But the evidence continues to mount and the President’s behavior is repeatedly obstructionist.
Feb 27, 2019 update
Micheal Cohen’s testimony and supporting evidence show the President broke the law. But even more damning is the picture he paints of the President as a person. It is ugly, corrupt, and toxic. I am back to concluding it is time to impeach the MF.
